Track Gear.                BACK TO HOME PAGE

Gary Jackson is passionate about track racing. Although there isn't much of a market for quality track gear in our home town of Bairnsdale, that hasn't stopped me from having product knowledge and mechanical skill to rival any store in Australia.

Can't get the products you want at your usual bike store? or are you met with blank looks when you ask for an Izumi V chain? Then give me a call or email!

Please contact us for any info regarding track gear including quotes for mail order supply.

email: rivcyc@tpg.com.au or phone during business hours 03 5152 1886.

Some examples of track products and services that we can supply are listed below, but even if you don't see it here, chances are we can source it or make it!

New Arrival!

We are very excited to announce that we can import Full Carbon Track frame, fork and seat post sets direct from the manufacturer, cutting out the middle man and saving you money.

Price $1400.

This frame will be familiar to some as it has been marketed for a while under various names. We can supply these unbranded or with branding of your choice (eg, your surname)

Email me if you are interested in a pre order. Five frame and fork sets arriving soon with two already accounted for! email me for details.

Pictured right is the first sample frame built and ready for me to trial. First visual impressions are that it is nicely finished and on riding, despite being 1kg lighter than my previous carbon track bike, it seems plenty stiff and it has nice steering. It has a very low head tube, which will be great for time trial set up, hence the upward sloping stem for sprint bars.

Custom Track wheel sets.

I pride myself on the quality of my wheel building. Custom wheels are available in many options, including aluminium or carbon rims, sealed bearing (eg: Miche) or loose ball hubs (eg: Shimano Dura Ace).

Tie and solder of spokes is available for increased strength and stiffness.

Rider size and event type are factors to be considered when making a custom wheel set.

So whether you are a 100kg 10sec sprinter, or a 65kg points racer, or even a 50kg junior, I can make wheels that specifically suit you.

Here is two examples we've done recently

Pictured far left is, what was, a Pro-Lite rear road clincher wheel that we have converted to track using a 24 hole American Classic sealed bearing track hub. With an allen-key skewer for the front wheel, the customer now has a great pair of wheels for training and racing.

The other wheel is a front track 24 spoke with Miche hub, bladed spokes and a Velocity Aerohead rim. This wheel is for a Masters track racer, but would also be an excellent wheel for juniors who cannot use carbon rims for racing. With a very light rim and alloy nipples, rotating mass is very low with this wheel. Not suitable for 90kg sprinters, but great for track endurance events or lighter riders.

Shimano Track components available. Contact for pricing and availability.

Tyres

Track tyres from Vittoria, Veloflex and Continental in tubular and high pressure (clincher)

Tyre gluing.

Accurate, trustworthy and safe gluing of tubular tyres to rims performed in-house by Gary Jackson. We recommend either Vittoria Mastik for a fast but strong job, or the ever-reliable Shellac for a hard bond for decreased rolling resistance and therefore higher speeds. Best performed in the off-season over a few weeks to allow base layers of Shellac to harden, don't use the Shellac option if you are in a hurry!

Check back regularly as I will be updating and adding more information soon.
